Introducing YoKid’s Program Manager

YoKid’s staff has an incredible new addition, our Program Manager, Laura Tashjian.

Laura holds a M.S. of Arts in Law and Diplomacy with a Certificate in Human Security & Humanitarian Studies. Her undergraduate degree is in Interdisciplinary Social Science & Philosophy.

Laura (RYT 200) began her exploration in meditation about 12 years ago.  It only took a few years to see the profound potential for transform in her own life.  After completing her first yoga teacher training in 2015 at the The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, she went on to become certified in children’s yoga and continues to pursue education in yoga and healing traditions.

As YoKid’s program manager, Laura oversees our team of volunteers; cultivates community partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and recreation centers; coordinates teacher trainings and professional development opportunities; and monitors YoKid’s processes and procedures to ensure that Greater DC’s under-served children and youth have quality access to yoga and mindfulness.

Laura’s position with YoKid is not quite full-time so when she is not immersed in yoga and meditation, Laura also works as an international development consultant, specializing in gender issues, conflict analysis, and evaluation.

We are grateful to have Laura on our team and can’t wait for you to meet her!  If you’re interested in volunteering (teacher, assistant, intern, office admin, etc.) email Laura at or stop by our office during regular business hours.
