Events Management Internship

General Summary:
The Events Management Intern will work to support the mission and vision of YoKid, a nonprofit providing yoga, meditation, and mindfulness classes for low-income and at-risk youth, by supporting events management activities, including:

  • Assist with implementation of the 2014 National Kids Yoga Conference (September), hosted by YoKid (the intern will provide general support to conference implementation, but will lead the planning and implementation of the Conference’s Friday Night Dinner)
  • Perform analysis of the quarterly “Planks and Pints” fundraising event, make recommendations for improvements and lead the planning and implementation of the next Planks and Pints in September
  • Perform analysis of the annual “YoKid Challenge, looking for methods to make it a more cost-effective event with a more streamlined planning process, and make recommendations for if and how it should be continued in fall 2014. If it is to be continued, lead the planning an implementation of the event.

Because the activities of this internship are so highly linked to YoKid’s fundraising efforts, the intern will also be instrumental in brainstorming sessions with the directors, staff, and board members of YoKid focused on enhancing current fundraising efforts and implementing new creative fundraising initiatives.

Conducting Analysis on Past Events and Recommending Improvements

Leading Event Planning and Implementation: Identifying Vendors and Establishing Community Partnerships, Promotion of Events through Social and Local Media, Advising on Marketing Content, Assisting with Participant Registration, Evaluating Participants’ Experiences, Documenting the Planning Process for Each Event
