3 Great Ways to Volunteer

Whether you’re an experienced yogi or interested in learning more about yoga yourself, we want YOU on the YoKid team! Check out the different ways that you can involved:

1. Volunteer Classroom Assistant: Volunteer Classroom Assistants are an extra set of hands for the YoKid yoga teachers and a great way to get involved if you’re newer to yoga and/or you want to help but not in a lead position. Responsibilities include: assist and support the teachers within the classroom as they deliver fun and creative yoga classes in a safe and nurturing environment; commit to a minimum of one class per week for six weeks (typical classes are 45-60 minutes in length). Volunteer Assistants must complete the form below and a background check. No prior yoga experience necessary.

2. Parent Volunteer Teachers: This position is NEW and is geared towards parents who want to coordinate and teach YoKid programs at their child’s school. Parent Teachers must qualify for and commit to completing the YoKid Certification program. Training and certification is funded in part by a grant from the OASIS Foundation of Washington DC. Volunteer Parent Teachers must complete the form below and a background check. Parent volunteers register for the YoKid 20-hour Certification program at a reduced rate. Registration code will be emailed to you upon submission and approval of the form at the bottom of this page. Prior yoga experience is helpful but not necessary.

3. Yoga Teacher Volunteers: Our volunteer yoga teachers are those with previous yoga experience who have an interest in teaching kids yoga. Our volunteer yoga teachers are paid a stipend for each class they teach. Learn more and apply by clicking here

Do I Need Special Training?

Completion of the 20 hour basic kids yoga teacher certification training is required for our Parent Teacher Volunteers and our Yoga Teacher Volunteers. No training is required for our Volunteer Classroom Assistants.

How Do I Get Started?

Volunteer Classroom Assistants and Volunteer Parent Teachers should complete and submit the form below AND download and follow the directions for the background check at the bottom of the page. Volunteer Yoga Teachers should review the information and submit the application on our Teach with YoKid page.
