YoKid holds a variety of events throughout the year to raise awareness and support for our programs.  Please see the listing below of our on-going events and check back regularly for current happenings…

*KARMA Classes at Local Studios*

Do something good for someone else while doing something good for you…
Hosted by a variety of local studios and teachers who support the YoKid mission, these adult yoga classes will raise money so that YoKid can expand programs to more kids who could benefit from yoga.  Please check back on a regular basis to find out about upcoming karma classes near you!

*YoKid Teacher Training*

The YoKid Teacher Training is strongly recommended for all YoKid Teachers, but is open to anyone with a desire to extend the benefits of yoga to children including but not limited to parents, school teachers, and RYTs.

The aim of the YoKid Teacher Training is to give adults the tools they need to effectively teach yoga and meditation to children of all ages and backgrounds.  Our practical and informative training will provide you with what you need to teach traditional and non-traditional poses, provide you with age-appropriate language and methods for creating a fun, yet calming environment for kids.  You will also learn methods of classroom management and stages of child development in order to modify, differentiate, and make your instruction appropriate for all children.  Certificate of Completion is available upon request.  12.5 CEUs AVAILABLE!

*Kids Yoga Camps*

Offered throughout the summer, YoKid partners with different studios and organizations to run yoga camps for kids of all ages.  Please check back regularly for upcoming locations and dates.  For more information, or to request a kids yoga camp, please email our Program Director, Michelle at michelle@yokid.org.

*Wellness Fair & Silent Auction*

Each year, YoKid partners with wellness providers from all over the DC Metro area to put on a health and wellness event for people in the community.  Hosted by lululemon athletica’s Clarendon store, the Wellness Fair offers individuals the opportunity to experience a variety of wellness modalities (reiki, nutritional counseling, meditation, pranassage, hoop-dancing, therapeutic massage, and more) while offering providers exposure to people seeking their offerings.  Funds raised from the event go directly towards sponsoring no-cost YoKid programs to schools/organizations in the area who meet our criteria.

We will be returning to lululemon althletica’s Clarendon store for this year’s Wellness Fair & Silent Auction!  Come out and enjoy the fair and place opening bids on our online auction items - Saturday, JULY 11th, 4:00-8:00pm

*Mat-Cutting Event*

We provide a YoKid sticky mat for each child who participates in our programs.  This year, alone, we are providing instruction in yoga and meditation (AND MATS) to over 250 children!!  Each YoKid mat is cut from a large roll and has a YoKid label adhered to it before it is rolled up and delivered to the program sites.  Hosted by lululemon athletica’s Clarendon store, YoKid held it’s 1st Annual Mat-Cutting event, where several wonderful volunteers came out to help us with this huge task of cutting, pasting, and rolling 275 mats!
