YoKid Teacher Training and Mentor & Apprentice Program

YoKid Teacher Training (20 hours)

The aim of the YoKid Teacher Training is to give adults the tools they need to effectively teach yoga and meditation to school-aged children.  Our practical and informative training will provide you with what you need to teach traditional and non-traditional poses and teach you age appropriate language and methods for creating a fun, yet calming environment for kids.  You will also learn effective methods of classroom management and stages of child development in order to modify, differentiate, and make your instruction appropriate for all children.

This 20-hour training includes yoga philosophy and the Yoga Sutras as they pertain to children, asana for the elementary, middle, and high school student, traditional hatha poses, the ashtanga primary series, yoga games, yoga stories, partner poses, and journaling.

The YoKid 20-hour Teacher Training can be taken in its entirety or as individual workshop components of your choice:

YoKid Mentor & Apprentice Program (25 hours)

The YoKid Mentor & Apprentice program offers practical real classroom experience to those interested in successfully cultivating the gift of teaching yoga to children.  A combination of observation, co-teaching, and independent teaching progressively prepares you to successfully teach school-aged children.
To fulfill the required hours, you will need to complete each of the following three components:

  1. Observation of 6 YoKid or Radiant Child classes (observation can either be on-site at classes taught by YoKid or Radiant Child teachers OR through video of YoKid or Radiant Child classes).
  2. Co-teach/assist a total of 6 classes with a YoKid or Radiant Child teacher.
  3. Coordinate and teach 3 classes for school-aged children (this can include, but is not limited to, teaching a YoKid program in your immediate community; all classes will need to be videotaped and sent in for review and feedback by Shakta Kaur Khalsa and YoKid faculty).

Cost: $385 (plus materials)

Combined YoKid Teacher Training and Mentor & Apprentice Program: $700 (plus materials)

Radiant Child YoKid Teacher Training

If you are already a RYT, you can now combine Radiant Child Yoga Program Levels 1, 2, & 3 with the YoKid Teacher Training and the YoKid Mentor & Apprentice Program to fulfill the requirement for RYT-C as defined by Yoga Alliance.

Shakta Kaur Khalsa’s Radiant Child Yoga Program (www.childrensyoga.com) in collaboration with YoKid will provide you with practical tools, classroom experience, and a safe nurturing forum to cultivate your passion for teaching children.  The Radiant Child YoKid Program will encourage and refine your ability to teach from your heart when working with children.
