20 hour Basic Kids Yoga Training

Why should you become a certified kids yoga teacher with YoKid?

The aim of the YoKid Teacher Training is to give you the tools you need to effectively teach yoga and meditation to school-aged children.  Our practical and informative training will provide you with what you need to teach traditional and non-traditional poses and teach you age appropriate language and methods for creating a fun, yet calming environment for kids.  You will also learn effective methods of classroom management and stages of child development in order to modify, differentiate, and make your instruction appropriate for all children.

What will you learn at the YoKid teacher training and certification course?

The 20-hour basic certification & training includes yoga philosophy and the Yoga Sutras as they pertain to children, asana for the elementary, middle, and high school student, traditional hatha poses, the ashtanga primary series, yoga games, yoga stories, partner poses, and journaling.  In preparation for each training, you will want to purchase both “Eastern Body, Western Mind” by Anodea Judith and “The Unadorned Thread” by Salvatore Zambito.  You will want to bring a copy of these texts to each YoKid course you attend.  Course participants should also bring a pen (something to write with),  loose leaf paper/note pad/journal, yoga mat, water/snacks, and wear comfortable clothing.  Think Green!  If you will be using an ipad or lap top let us know and we will provide you with an electronic copy of your manual in lieu of a printed copy.

How can you use your training & certification?

All 3 trainings can be used for CEU’s with Yoga Alliance, staff development requirements for educators in a variety of school districts, and/or to fulfill a 20 hour module requirement in the Radiant Child Family Yoga Certification courses.  Our partner program allows those who complete the YoKid 95 hour certification program to partner and teach YoKid programs in their community.  The hours can also count towards Yoga Alliance’s 95 hour children’s yoga specialty or 200 hour registration through YoKid or Radiant Child.

When are the teacher trainings?

The YoKid basic 20-hour Teacher Training  is offered 4-6 times each year and can be taken in its entirety or as individual courses of your choice as listed below.  Click here to learn more about YoKid’s continuing education courses which must be completed by those pursuing their 95 hr. certification
